If you've visited our Toomuc store after school hours, you may have been lucky enough to meet Elijah or Kai, grandsons of Eureka. You may not be aware that the youngest, Elijah, faces many health struggles on a daily basis. This is particularly prominent in our minds right now, as he has just been released from hospital after an uncontrolled seizure that resulted in an induced coma before the brilliant doctors finally
brought him back to us. An extremely scary and stressful experience that we all dread, and on the very day he was supposed to be celebrating his 7th birthday with his friends.
Elijah was born with a rare genetic condition (1p36), which in Elijah incorporates a variety of conditions that you may be more familiar with: autism, left hemi cerebral palsy, polymicrogyria, epilepsy and a dilated aorta. Elijah (and his mum) spend many hours at specialist appointments as well as the normal daily chores of attending school, buying groceries etc. These activities are often incredibly overwhelming for Elijah.
A specially trained SMART PUP would make an immense difference to Elijah and his family's lives. As well as assisting in the day to day activities, we hope for the pup to be able to help in detecting seizures. We are currently fundraising to try and make this a reality - please click the link to read more and consider donating or sharing with your contacts 💙💚
