We have great specials now running on our website, as we try and clear out some of our excess stock from the warehouse.
Most of these are available in store also, however stock varies and is strictly limited. If you're heading in store just for these products, please ring first (Cheltenham 03 9584 1678 or Toomuc 03 5941 1671) to check if what you're
after is still available. |
Australia Day Public Holiday |
Our Cheltenham and Toomuc Valley stores will be closed on Tuesday 26th January for the Australia Day public holiday. Our website will still be taking orders, however due to post office closures, orders will not be sent until Wednesday 27th January.
RIP Cat (Sept 2015) & Cobber (Jan 2016) |
The past few months have not been kind to our pet population, and it is with great sadness that we have to report on the passing of two of our beloved furry friends. We felt we had to share with our readers, as over the years, if you visited our Toomuc store, there was a good chance you met one or both of these characters. Cat's adoption story is somewhat typical of the “normal" O’Riley pet acquisition story. Cat was discovered one day about 15 years ago hanging around the guinea pig enclosure. Fearful that the super skinny stray cat was trying to hunt the guinea pigs, we kept a close eye on her, only to
discover she was instead huddling with them at night for warmth, and sharing in their feed. We began feeding her, and sometime later managed to lure her into the house. Cat worked at the bead shop for many years, throwing herself under people’s feet (she preferred older ladies that were more likely to trip on her) to collect pats.
Her favourite pastime however was to sleep under the lamps, and then sit up and startle the poor customers who had thought she was a statue. She enjoyed her retirement, but for a once-stray-cat that shared the guinea pigs feed, had a lot of hangups, including drinking only fresh running water, and being extremely picky with what she would eat. What was a favourite meal yesterday was almost almost guaranteed to be shunned the next. We’re going to miss our beautiful
Cat. Cobber the Australian cattle dog came to us as a pound puppy on his very last chance - we were convinced to take him home "just for a trial", but told that if it didn't work out with us, it was the end of the road. Despite being a rotter of a dog, Cobber hit the jackpot, as there
was no way we would send him back! Cobber spent his years at the bead shop getting into trouble - if you ever visited when we left the back door ajar, you could be certain of this rascal sneaking through to steal a pat. Years of practice made us keep our lunches well out of way, but it wasn't unusual to find Cobber in the back
room, dancing like a ballerina on tippy toes as he stole a sandwich off a top shelf. He was a character, a rascal and a bandit. A pound puppy who came to us as a last chance and gave us 14 years of his own individuality. We will miss you...our mate... our Cobber. |
