Learn: Sparkly Elastic Beaded Watch
Follow our free beading instructions to learn how to make this elegant crystal beaded watch. Featuring sparkly glass crystal beads, diamante spacers and elastic, this project makes a gorgeous 21cm watch.

MATERIALS

TOOLS
scissors

METHOD
Take the piece of elastic and thread through one end of the loops of the watch face. Pull so that the watch is at the middle of the piece. You will be working on both sides of the elastic, so on the first side thread on:
-one 3mm plain metal bead
-one fancy filigree bead cap (cup side up)
-one 8mm crystal clear round glass crystal bead
-one fancy filigree bead cap (cup side down)
-one 3mm plain metal bead

Repeat on the other side of the elastic so that you have the watch face in the middle of the beads. Thread on the 2 strand oval diamante oval spacer, making sure that the diamante side faces the same way as the watch face.

Repeat the pattern until you have seven of the 2 strand oval diamante oval spacers in place.

Leave one end of the elastic in the middle of the 2 strand spacer bead and using the other strand place on:
-one 3mm plain metal bead
-one fancy filigree bead cap (cup side up)
-one 8mm crystal clear round glass crystal bead
-one fancy filigree bead cap (cup side down)
-one 3mm plain metal bead

Loop through the other end of the watch face, then thread on:
-one 3mm plain metal bead
-one fancy filigree bead cap (cup side up)
-one 8mm crystal clear round glass crystal bead
-one fancy filigree bead cap (cup side down)
-one 3mm plain metal bead

Thread through the to the middle of the 2 strand oval diamante spacer and bring together with the other end of your elastic. Tie a firm overhand knot by making a circle with the two strands and dragging the tail of the elastic through like you would tie off the end of a balloon. Seal the knot with E6000 glue. Allow the glue two hours to set before cutting the knot so that yo have a 2mm tail. Your watch is now ready to wear.

Did You Know?
Whenever we travel, we like to explore our surroundings.  This month we're in Canberra, and have been busy seeing the sights, with hikes to the top of Mount Ainslie and walks down to Lake Burley Griffin.

Below is the view from Mount Ainslie, looking down to the War Memorial, down ANZAC parade, across Lake Burley Griffin and across to Parliament House atop Capital Hill. We truly live in a beautiful country!
